Classic racers invited down under

The New Zealand Classic Motorcycle Racing Register plans to hold its 34th Annual Classic Motorcycle Festival at Pukekhoe on February 1-3, 2013.

Any racers who decide to travel over from the UK will be able to combine this event with the nearby Hampton Downs Summer Classic races which take place the following weekend of February 9-10.

The events are for pre-1976 British, European and American machines.

Bob Millinship, who is organising the UK contingent, said: “The plan is to crate up bikes individually, group the crates into a container-load and ship by sea freight over to NZ.

“Our estimate of the maximum cost is £560 per bike, quite possibly less than this if we can fill the container. The NZCMRR is funding the return costs of our bikes back to UK and also waiving entry fees for both events. All we need to do is send at least 10 bikes and riders over to compete.

“All who have been in the past know that these are well organised events with friendly and helpful people, at the time of year when we could all do with some sunshine.”
