The British Legion Hall offered warmth and refreshments to bargain hunters

The club has more than 80 members, fulfilling the main criterion for membership, which is ownership of a British bike, even if it is among a collection of machinery from other countries. Between them, members can muster a good spread of bikes from the classic era and and a selection will often be found on display at  various events in East Anglia. Plenty of the club regalia blue sweatshirts were being worn at Witham.

Like most jumbles the first couple of hours saw vigorous trading and some of the complete bikes at the entrance to the hall changed hands.

This year, the bright dry weather had encouraged visitors, apparently some 50 per cent up on last year and committee member Mark Gooding said the club would no doubt be making a further contribution to its adopted charity, the Essex Air Ambulance.
