Set up day at Stafford

It’s for exactly this reason that there’s a real buzz in the air here at the Staffordshire County Showground today as all manner of traders and exhibitors get set up for this weekend’s much anticipated Carole Nash International Classic MotorCycle Show.

Yes, we’ve had some great events and meetings in 2014 already, but when we see Stafford marked on our calendars, well, it’s a bit like when you see the Coca Cola advert at Christmas… you know the good times are coming.

Many of classic motorcycling’s most recognised names have either arrived already or are en route. Carole Nash, the VMCC and the National Motorcycle Museum are building their stands as we speak and, if what’s already in the halls is anything to go by, the show promises to be a special one.

Later on this evening, we’ll be covering the arrival of the iconic MV Agusta GP 500 and Ferrari 158 that took British racing legend John Surtees to multiple world championships. Along with the man himself, who is the show’s special guest of honour for 2014, the rare coming together of these machines will surely be a highlight of the year.

We’ve also had a walk past the Bonhams auction hall for a sneak-peak through the window, and it’s managed further excite us about Sunday’s sale – if that’s even possible.

Whether classic, vintage, modern-classic, British, European, American, Japanese, sidecar, off-road, race or any other of the long list of categories that could be named; the bikes, enthusiasts, businesses and traders that come together for these weekends are a great reminder of what it’s really all about – meeting like-minded fellows and swapping yarns about the bikes we own and the adventures we have on them.

If you’re at a loose end over the next couple of days, then there really is no other place to be. We’re already having a great time, and it’s only set up day!

Classic Bikers Club will be reporting live from the event throughout the duration of the weekend, so if you can’t make it to Stafford, keep checking back for news, photo and video updates covering every single bit of action here at the showground.
