Gates open at Bristol!

The 33rd Carole Nash Bristol Classic Motorcycle Show runs today and tomorrow (February 16-17) at the Royal Bath & West Showground and promises to be a weekend of growling precision-made engines, lively debate about motorcycling days gone by and appreciation for some of Britain’s finest bikes.

The queues at the pedestrian gate at Bristol had formed a long chain, three to four people deep and over 100 yards long, boding well for this weekend's event.

There will be something for everyone at the show, which will feature more than 600 beautiful classic machines displayed by around 70 clubs.

Referred to the 'Bristol' show as recognition of the show's roots, the new event actually takes place at Shepton Mallet, a picturesque blend of ancient market town and modern industrial community, 23 miles south of Bristol.

Private entries include everything from a little 1904 Humber Olympia Tandem, where the passenger sits up front, to a modern classic in the making – a 2002 Honda Dream. There will also be an exceptional Norton Domiracer 500cc replica created by Chris Hawksley of Solo Motorcycle Products, plus two rare Moto Guzzi racers from the museum of ex-Grand Prix racer and trials legend Sammy Miller MBE.

Sammy himself will be the event’s guest of honour and show-goers will be able to see him talk about his sparkling race career and his herculean efforts to protect and preserve some of the world’s rarest motorcycles.

Moonfleet GT & Rebels Club speedway racers will be there and among the clubs will be the Stonehenge Section of the VMCC, which celebrates its golden anniversary this year.

The weekend’s compere will be Old Bike Mart and Classic Dirtbike editor Tim Britton. More than 300 traders will be there too, offering everything from bikes, parts, tools and leathers to maintenance services, insurance, workshop manuals, books, magazines, memorabilia, transfers and even gifts.
