For the last few months I have meant to email you regarding your article about Police Triumphs (The Classic MotorCycle, April 2019), in particular ELA-registered Saints.

My brother Nick and I bought two of them in 1980 from an East London dealer (Romford Road, Forest Gate?) specifically to take on tour around South America.

Now back in police trim, this Triumph, ELA 174J, has travelled far and wide.

We duly shipped them from Birkenhead to Callao in Peru in a crudely put-together crate and flew out to meet them in September or October.

We then reassembled them outside the dock gates and drove for approximately 7000 miles through Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay and ended in Rio, Brazil.
