V-twin down under
By: Web Editor
I was wondering if you would be interested in seeing a picture of my recent restoration. It is a 1940 AJS Model 2A, the export model.
Tim Jordan's freshly restored and rather wonderful Model 2A AJS V-twin.
It is virtually one of the last, if not the last ‘big twin’ to roll off the AJS/Matchless production line. As I’m sure many readers will know, this bike shares the same engine that went into the Brough SS80, the Morgan three wheeler and the Matchless Model X.
My AJS has a fairly interesting history having previously being owned by a former chairman of the New South Wales Vintage Motorcycle Club. I still have the ‘bulldog clip’ he used to secure a one dollar note around one of the control cables so he could easily pay the toll when going over the Sydney Harbour Bridge each day.
