Brooklands DVD
By: James Robinson
The Christmas lunch for the motorcycle volunteers at Brooklands Museum was also chosen as the occasion to launch of the second Brooklands Motorcycle Activities DVD.
Adding to the archive! Brooklands Motorcycle Activities 2008-2011 is the latest DVD recording activities by the museum’s very active motorcycle section.
This was produced and directed by Gary Critcher, museum volunteer and also a professional cameraman. The DVD covers events from 2008-2011, a period that includes a number of major meetings at the museum. The Test Hill Centenary and the Spring Gathering in 2010 recalled busy occasions. The footage devoted to Brooklands Relived proves that the endeavours to recreate the 1930s atmosphere for the day were successful.
More recently, the museum bikes have been taken elsewhere to be seen in action and there’s some excellent footage of the demonstration rides around Mallory Park at the Festival of 1000 Bikes in July 2011.
Some of the museum’s bikes are looked at in more detail. A bonus section has previously unseen footage of a 1992 Reunion, filmed in black and white on a 1930s film camera.
The DVD, which runs for 70 minutes, should be on sale soon at the Brooklands Museum shop, price around £15.
