Having read Roy Poynting’s views on the MoT test, I’m left feeling he is a little naïve. I agree it is a nuisance getting my bikes (and cars) tested every year and especially when, as an engineer, their roadworthiness is something I could take responsibility for.

In his ‘More specials’ feature in the January issue Richard Rosenthal describes the Vincent engine as the main stressed member. That description could also apply to the prospective owner of a Vincent when confronted with today’s prices, or with the occasional speed wobble that can arise when things mechanically aren’t just so.

Just right for me

I can’t recall ever writing to a magazine, but I just wanted to say thanks and offer my enthusiasm for the new direction TCM has taken. Not that I had any issues with the previous direction, but where you are taking the magazine just puts a fine point on my particular area of interest.

Pluses and minuses

Regarding the recent discussion about the new magazine format – I think the inside is fine and has become more vibrant. Although those vertical left margin title panels seem questionable, hard to read and take up valuable editorial space.

Car identified

With regards to the identification of the car shown in your October issue, page 63. I am able to tell you the glass fibre body was produced by Martin coachworks, which was situated behind the Rose pub in Bearsted, Kent.
