Editor's Intro
To go back, or not to go back
3 February 2012
First, please accept, with our compliments, the reprinted ‘Blue Un’ you should have received with your March edition of The Classic MotorCycle.
Emotional attachments
6 January 2012.
The subject of emotional attachment to what are inanimate objects often comes up in discussion with regards to motorcycles. One of my friends reckons he has none; not to the venerable old single he’s owned for 30 years, the cafe racer which once belonged to a family member or even a relatively recent example of Brit engineering that’s he’s effectively owned since new.
Back and forth
2 December 2011.
Once again, thanks to all you’ve contributed with correspondence in this last month – and a particular thanks to those who’ve encouraged me to not get downhearted with the criticism which has been levelled. As I’ve tried to make clear, I do this job because I love and am fascinated by old motorcycles and the history that surrounds them.
Ten years of temptation
4 November 2011.
We’re still receiving lots of letters and emails about the magazine’s layout, so thanks to all who have taken the time to write. It is interesting how we seem to have somewhat polarised opinion, though the undeniable fact is that we have managed to sell a few more copies in the last couple of months, with several new readers picking up the magazine for the first time.
Budget fun
7 October 2011.
There’s been a huge amount of correspondence in the last month, as you the readers have let me know what you think and feel about the current positioning of the magazine; and I must say, the vast majority has been incredibly positive and constructive and there are some ideas which it will hopefully be possible to implement in time.
Different options
2 September 2011.
In these times of change for the magazine, we’ve encouraged you, our readers, to let us know what you think of what we’ve done and the direction we’ve taken.
Best laid plans...
5 August 2011.
Sometimes, things just don’t go right. That was certainly the case with our 2011 Banbury; it just became ‘one of them days’. Everything seemed to be in place and we were all looking forward to the day... then unfortunately certain things occurred which means that rather than bringing you a glowing account of our collective good day out, it’s more a series of documented disappointments and infuriations.
Looking to the future
3 June 2011.
From next month, we’re instigating a few changes to the magazine, which we hope will add to your enjoyment. It’s an exciting time and we hope to underline our position as the world’s leading classic magazine for fans and enthusiasts of the older machines – by that we mean pre-1960s.
Happy Anniversary
6 May 2011.
So with this issue we celebrate the 30th birthday of The Classic MotorCycle magazine. We hope you enjoy the edition (which we’ve tweaked slightly) – and take advantage of our competition to enjoy a summer’s ‘classic style’ motorcycling, courtesy of Triumph.
