The world of Grand Prix motorcycle racing today is completely different from the scene of the Seventies...
The upcoming book, Continental Circus – the Races and the Faces, the People and the Places, of Classic Racer contributor Jan Burgers, his wife Hetty and motorcycle journalist Frank Weeink is dedicated to those golden years of Grand Prix racing.
Dutch photographer Burgers was part of the so called ‘Continental Circus’ in the beginning and mid Seventies and his photographs were published in motorsport magazines all over the world.
Together with motorcycle journalist and TV commentator Frank Weeink he has selected some 400 of his best photos and Burgers even discovered pictures of his own he had never seen and photos he had completely forgotten about.
The stories and the photos in the book paint a unique picture of the bitter-sweet life in the paddock, where poverty, friendship and death all too often went hand in hand.
Continental Circus – the Races and the Faces, the People and the Places will be published in December 2013. The book can be ordered at a price of €29.90 from Mastix Press (firstname.lastname@example.org) or check Jan Burger’s Facebook page
