Classic scrambles at Lanark

By Web editor, 11 May 2013
They're off!

The flag's been dropped and the mud's flying on the first of our weekend classic scrambles demonstrations at The Carole Nash Great Scottish Bike Show at Lanark's showground. The display will run until approximately 2pm today, and there will be another tomorrow...

Classic scrambling is an ageless, reasonably priced, fun two-wheeled sport.

A typical 'classic' bike and protective kit – body belt, boots, helmet and goggles and body armour for example – can be purchased for under £1500. Same fun as the ultra-expensive modern bikes, but a fraction of the investment. Choose from a peakier but lower maintenance two-stroke machine or the higher maintenance British four stroke machines, which have a more linear power delivery. Best to try out both bike types before you commit to buy.

Other mouth-watering attractions over the weekend include:
The Vertical Trix stunt team
Wall of Death
Danny Butler Extreme Mountain Bike Show
Brian Marr – trials demonstration
Scottish racing duo Bill and Ian Simpson on stage
Mini quads
Scottish Supermoto round 3 (on Sunday. Practice on Saturday)

ScramblerVenue: Lanark Agricultural Centre, Lanark, Scotland ML11 9AX
Date: May 11-12, 2013
Opening times: Saturday 9am-6pm, Sunday 9am-5pm
Ticket prices: £8 on the day
