Huge auction at Stafford Show in October

A collection of more than 50 motorcycles assembled by a Gloucester-based dentist will go under the hammer at the 19th Carole Nash Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show. The show takes place at Stafford County Showground on the weekend of October 20-21 and the sale, by Bonhams, will be on the Sunday...

The machines, which were owned by Evan Aled Jenkins, who died last year, are mainly Japanese but there are some British and Italian bikes too.

Some of the most desirable limited edition models of recent times are included such as the 2002 Yamaha 750cc YZF-R7, also known as the OW-02, which is one of only 500 built to meet the homologation requirements of the World Superbike Championship.

It is unused and unregistered and is expected to fetch between £12,000 and £14,000.

Other highlights include a limited edition 1999 Honda TT100 Fireblade Evolution estimated to fetch between £4000 and £4500, and a 2000 Yoshimura Suzuki GSXR1300R Hayabusa X-1 Suzuka 8 Hour replica estimated at £5000 to £5500.

Bonhams Japanese bike auction at StaffordThe head of Bonhams’ motorcycle department Ben Walker said: “It is a privilege to offer this wonderful collection of modern day classics on behalf of Aled’s family. I can see exactly what Aled was trying to accomplish with his collection and his passion and enthusiasm for machines is clearly evident.

“We anticipate a total entry of around 180 machines for our biannual sale at Stafford, which is one of the most important sales that takes place during the year and a great barometer for values and prices.”

The motorcycles from the Jenkins collection will be offered without reserve.

There’s free parking on both days of the 19th Carole Nash Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show and dogs on leads are welcome.

Gates are open 9am to 6pm on the Saturday and 9am to 5pm on the Sunday.

Pre-booked one-day tickets cost £10 for adults, £8.50 for senior citizens and £3 for under 15s. Two-day tickets cost £20, £17 and £6 respectively. Weekend camping costs £40.
