Car identified

With regards to the identification of the car shown in your October issue, page 63. I am able to tell you the glass fibre body was produced by Martin coachworks, which was situated behind the Rose pub in Bearsted, Kent. Read more

A future classic?

I was heartened to see a picture of an MZ TS250 in September’s magazine. This has taken me back to the early 1980s when I joined my schoolmates in getting a moped to get to work. In those days, what you rode was very much dictated by fashion and labels with a new pair of black Puma trainers considered as important as the FS-1E or Honda CG125 in being part of the image. May I comment on the use of the term ‘disc brake’ when referring to the Research Association (RA) brakes used by Douglas in the 1920s. Most readers will be familiar with the belt rim type of brake, which existed in two forms – those in which the block was pushed inwards from the outside and those in which the block was pushed outwards from the inside.
