A selection of print advertisements from the Japanese motorcycle manufacturers, starting in 1964. How many can you remember? We'll add to the gallery over the forthcoming weeks, so pop back for the latest selection.
Small selection of Post-war british bike magazine advertisements.
Dating from 1952 with the 'most popular BSA ad' the British manufacturers were selling laddish and girl-likes-boy-with-bike messages, which didn't change much until the extinction of the British motorcycle industry.
Some lovely quirky ads here, from the 'exceedingly smooth and flexible' JAP Dual Car, Ferodo's 'halting hand', the 1907 ad for Brooks Saddles with 'uniformly front-rank quality' whatever that means, and the Zenith Bicar, which is the 'hit of the 1907 season'. Was it?
Mixed bag of print ads to keep you on your toes - some bikes, some accessories. Lodge's spark plugs seem to impress a despatch rider (below), distinctively orange-coloured Instant Gasket was peppered in the motorcycling press and Firestone had created a new Diene RUBBER-X compound which was safe, smooth and long lasting.
Selection of screen sirens and classic bikes, published in Classic Bike Guide and drawn by Louise Limb. How many can you recognise?
Mixed bag of images from our archive: pre and post-war, Isle of Man, motorcycle show and factory pics, Phil Read and Giacomo Agostini and many, many others.
