Few motorcycling icons can hold a candle to Vincent’s incredible V-twins. A revelation when they first appeared, these classic British machines have stood the test of time and their high-performance engines are still held in the highest esteem worldwide...
There are few motorcycles which have achieved the legendary, iconic status of the Vincent V-twin. Immortalised in song (Ian Dury cites them as a reason to be cheerful, while Richard Thompson dedicates a whole song, Vincent Black Lightning) and film (the choice of mount for the Thought Police in the film of George Orwell’s 1984), even cartoonist Paul Sample relied on Vincent power for the motorcycle of his seminal 1970s cartoon character Ogri. Legendary 1970s-on automotive journalist LJK Setright also rhapsodised about them.
