Is it Britain’s most famous motorcycle? There are a couple more contenders to the throne, but one really has to admit that the Triumph Bonneville is the best known motorcycle ever to have been produced in Britain, which is ironic, considering that really it was instigated to sate the American market’s demand for more power and could never really be considered as a ‘quintessential’ example of the British motorcycle industry in its boom years; surely a ‘typical’ Brit would be a sober, understated and rather conservative machine, most likely a single-cylinder machine, not a flash, brash and promisingly, alluringly dangerous to know US-tailored twin-cylinder offering.
